What are some good brands of women’s boots?

I’m moving to New York City in 2 months and I’m looking for a pair of good, fashionable boots that I’ll be able to wear during the winter months. I don’t want Uggs and would kind of prefer a somewhat flat shoe. I’ve been looking online for weeks and just can’t seem to find anything. Any suggestions?
