How can I make the bottom of my dress shoes get more grip?

I bought some new Stacy Adams dress shoes and i am going to a party. The bottom of the shoes are not rubber, it is hard and smooth. My shoes slide too much when i walk and i dont want to slip on a hard floor. I heard hair spray will make it stickier and have more grip but i think it might make it more slippery. Is there a way to get more grip with this type of shoe?

Get a nail file or a piece of sandpaper and scuff the soles of the shoes, just scratch the heck out of them. Alternatively, you can put them on, find a rough patch of sidewalk and scrape them there.

I’ve done this many times for dress shoes (like for weddings when I’ve been a bridesmaid and had to walk down an aisle in brand new slippy-bottom shoes) and it works everytime.

Best!
